Full Description

1916 wreck of British trawler which foundered 3.25 miles east of Orfordness after being mined, while on Admiralty minesweeping duties. Constructed of steel in 1914, she was a steam-driven vessel. Her possible remains may be those recorded at 912686 / TM 55 SW 2; they may include part of the remains of a similar trawler lost under almost identical circumstances some days previously, the BURNLEY, whose main site is recorded at 1488653 / TM 54 NW 2; the account of the wreck event for the BURNLEY is given at 1443736 / TM 55 SE 62.

A steam fishing trawler, originally owned by the South Western Steam Fishing Co. Ltd., hired by the Admiralty in 1914, and sunk after striking a mine laid by a German submarine. (4)
