`Newcastle, March 12, 1791...The MOULD, Captain Mason, which sailed from Hull for London, on Thursday the 24th ult., met with a heavy gale of wind the next day, and had got two anchors ahead; but blowing hard and heavy sea on, she was obliged to cut and run for Yarmouth roads; having only one anchor left, could not bring up; it was then thought proper to run for Harwich, but on a sudden she struck; she then got off again by carrying a press of sail, but struck a second time about 6 o'clock on Saturday night, near three miles north of Southwould on the Suffolk coast; the crew ascended the shrouds where they continued till 5 next morning, and those who survived were dragged ashore by a rope round their waists; two of the men and a cabin boy perished, and a child of one of the passengers, not two years oldd, died soon after being got ashore.
