1785 wreck of British craft which stranded on the Holm Sand en route from Ipswich to Leith; a wooden sailing vessel.

`Newcastle, Feb. 19, 1785...The ship HOPE, Capt. James, from Ipswich to Leith, was lost on Friday se'nnight on the Holme Sands; the crew perished.' (1)
