Full Description

2018: A heritage and Impact Assessment was undertaken of he Grade II Listed Post Box Cottages.
The central timber framed range of the building dates to the late 16thc entury. During the late 18th to early 19th cnetury a Gault brick façade was added to the front or South-West elevation. The South-East extension may be contemporary in date or was constructed not long after. It is unclear when the late 16th century dwelling was first subdivided into two cottages, but it is highly probable it took place as early as the 18th century. Between 1840 and 1883 the building was extended to the North-West with a secondary two storey range and a single storey extension along the rear of the original building. There is high survival of the 18th century fabric in the North-East wall of the first floor (North-East cottage). (S1)
