Full Description
2024: During gas works on the street outside 8 Angel Hill and close to the war memorial, a void opened up and revealed a brick shaft descending to what appears to be a tunnel feature running approximately E-W. Due to the depth of the feature only limited investigation was possible, however both the shaft and tunnel appear to be brick-lined and possibly represent a former sewer of later post-medieval date. The shaft could represent an old manhole. The length of the tunnel is not known but this could just being a surviving portion.
