Full Description

The former Sudbury Union Workhouse. Constructed 1836-37 on the site of the former parish workhouse for Sudbury which occupied the former St Gregory's College buildings from 1702 (see SUY 004). The College buildings were demolished in 1836 to make way for the new buildings. By the mid 20th century the site was in use as a hospital and the site has been subsequently developed further. Much of the mid 19th century buildings are extant and converted into domestic dwellings. (S1) (S2)
