Full Description
The building, which was formerly two houses, is part of a terrace of two storey houses adjoining the pavement on the S side of Seckford Street. The deeds indicate that the building dates from c.1811 and was built by the Woodbridge soldier, banker and property developer Cornelius Collett. The building is two storey, constructed from red brick with a clay pantile roof, aligned on an E/W axis. The rear S elevation has 3 storeys owing to the change in ground level. It is of painted brick with a pantile roof and underwent alteration during the 20th century, including the removal of a small extension to No. 67 and replacement late 20th century casements on all three floors and the insertion of French doors at lower ground floor level in 2014. The property was listed at Grade II on 20th December 1971 and forms a group with Nos. 61 to 77 Seckford Street. The building remained as two houses under single ownership until the 1970s when alterations were carried out to convert it to a single dwelling. The interior contains no features of architectural or historic significance as a result of progressive alterations, the only significant remaining historic features being in the street facade although this has also undergone considerable change (S1).
