Full Description
Mill House is likely to have been built simultaneously with the nearby mill (LXD 036) which was built in 1842. The mill cottage initially followed the style of the Regency villas: a compact plan form with four rooms on each of its two floors under a shallow slate-pitched roof. The position of the original wooden staircase, with thin balusters and a spiral end, would have been on the central axis, in line with the door. An extension was added in the first half of the 20th century. Both the Regency cottage and the Edwardian extension, has been heavily altered. Another extension was added in the late 1980s (S1)
