Full Description
Bronze seal matrix. Probably 14th century. Pointed oval shape. In the base a tonsured demifigure in profile to the left, praying beneath an arched canopy. Above the canopy is a full-face demifigure, also tonsured, in hus upraised righ hand he holds a rectangular object (?a book) and in the left hand he holds a ladder-like object (? A gridrion). The upper figure is almost certainly St. Lawrence, holding the gridiron that was used for his martydom. Inscription not totally clear, but it appears to read: UTO ME LAVRENTE TOSTES INHMNATI (? Use me Lawrence to roast the unhumane) (S1)
