Full Description
Pottery kiln - behind Sicklesmere garage.
Black earth, red wattle and daub, plain fired clay.
C2 coarse grey sherds (small pots), one tile, one sherd with high mica content. Section of kiln wall apparent. All erosion finds on edge of gravel pit (S1)(S2).
In the 1940's/1950's there was an extraction pit along the road, outline transferred to this record from air photo layer and this find seems to be accurately plotted at TL 8811 6016 (the spot as previously recorded); however most finds recorded from extraction in Sicklesmere are from the earlier pit to the north (WLG 003).
