Full Description

Moat (site of) on Fen Farm (formerly Bacons Manor). Small square moat (unoccupied) depicted in Moat Field on 1737 estate map of Bacons Manor(175a) SRO 573/1. This was in Hitcham until the C19. Before then it was 400m W of the Hitcham/Wattisham boundary and 1.2km from Hitcham Church. The moat has been filled in but still shows as a soilmark on aerial photographs (S2). The area is now ploughed.
