Full Description
Fox's Farm (site of). Moat (see med).
1839 small farm owned by Charles Fox, occupied by John Canham from Tithe Apportionment. Small farmhouse made of clay lump under pantiled roof with a cellar, later coverted into 2 cottages and now demolished. Moat survives, partly water-filled, NW corner filled in. Site now used as a drainage contractor's yard. Originally rectangular and on the edge of Metfield Common. C14-C15 and some PMed pottery recovered from the small triangular field adjacent to th W side of the moat (S1).
