Full Description

Large cruciform brooch with side knobs missing and a good "horses head" foot (S1). Length 11.2cm, maximum width 3.4cm. Wings broken, decoration cast. Said (?by Fenton) to have been found in October 1899. Originally with a fragment of cloth which has not been preserved. Ex S G Fenton & T G Barnett (no. XCIV) collections. Sold at Sotheby sale, November 1927, lot 188 (S2).
