Full Description
Dense scatter of clay pipes, burnt bricks and traces of white clay or chalky deposits all over field at Fen edge on Pond Farm. Basil Brown excavated area 16 feet x 16 feet. This field had never been ploughed until 1947 and it was reported to Basil Brown that pipes had also been found on a field across the River Waveney in South Lopham. He records that the presence of many burnt bricks was evidenceof this being a kiln site. The pipes were of early C17 type (S1). Grid ref of TM 057 798 has been altered to conform to site marked on Brown's OS map. Also Mes.
