Full Description

Moat, occupied, isolated, rectangular, fragmentary. Abutts Old Hall Road. Known as 'Old Hall', modern building probably on site of earlier hall (S1).
A rectangular Medieval moat is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs at Old Hall, Shotley, centred on TM 23743577. The moat encloses an area at least 110m by 60m. The western side of the moat is not visible on the aerial photographs and the rest of the moat is partially obscured by trees. (S2) (S3) (S4)
