Full Description

Bronze toilet set and bronze `volute' handle found during quarrying in and around `centre barrow' in 1866 (S1). Probably from Anglo-Saxon secondary graves in middle barrow - near the surface of the barrow were found Saxon burials with the usual furniture, such as shield bosses of iron, spear heads, knives and toilet articles, but there was no inspection (S1, 298)(S3).
Site destroyed by quarrying, on 7th January 1976 nothing visible - area extensively disturbed and afforested (S2).
Now cleared (heathland re-creation).
