Full Description
"Two celts of bronze of different forms, found near Mildenhall", were exhibited by Sir H E Bunbury at the first quarterly general meeting of the Bury & W Suffolk Archaeological Institute on 8th June 1848 (S1). One is probably BSEMH 1977-735, a bronze cast and intensively hammered haft flanged axe with slight stop ridge, 15.3 cms long. Presented by Sir H Bunbury, EMBA (S2)(S3)(S4)(S5).
The other may be IPSMG 1932.49 ? An EBA thin butted flat axe, 11.7 cms long; purchased at sale of Sir Henry Bunbury`s effects in 1932 (CRN 09289).
