Full Description

Brooch found metal detecting during building work - area covered afterwards with dumped material (S1). Brooch made by attaching a bronze bar with pin and fastening loops by two pins to the obverse of a silver penny of William I; the front of the brooch (ie coin reverse) then gilded. Coin type AD 1077- 1080?, in good condition.
