Full Description
January 2014. Lothingland, Lowestoft and North Suffolk Coast and Heaths National Mapping Programme.
A small undated mound with an internal pit and external ditch is visible on aerial photographs (S1) as an earthwork in Somerleyton Park, centred at TM 4959 9783. It is visible on later aerial photographs as a pit. It could represent a former tree mound, therefore relating to the formal planting scheme within the park. This is not certain, however; earthworks relating to the pre-park landscape are also visible (SHER SOL 015, MSX27299), and it could instead relate to these.
S. Tremlett (Norfolk Historic Environment Service), 28th January 2014.
