Full Description
March 2014. Lothingland, Lowestoft and North Suffolk Coast and Heaths National Mapping Programme.
Undated linear ditch cropmarks including at least one possible trackway are visible on aerial photographs (S1) on land surrounding Nova Scotia Cottages, Wangford with Henham.
The fragmentary linear ditches are aligned on a number of different orientations, suggesting that this may perhaps represent a multi-period site. There are several curvilinear ditch features which may relate to very small ring ditches (approx. 5m in diameter), or possible roundhouses or hut circles, situated towards the south centre of the site, but the cropmarks were faint and difficult to discern, and they have been recorded with a note of caution. Geological patterning is also evident across the site, and in the field to the south (S2) and at times this could be difficult to discern from the archaeology.
