Full Description

March 2014. Lothingland, Lowestoft and North Suffolk Coast and Heaths National Mapping Programme.
Several undated linear ditch features and a possible curvilinear feature or ring ditch are visible on aerial photographs (S1-S4) on land to the east of Wangford.
There is a great deal of geological background ‘noise’ on the photographs, making it difficult to be certain of the true extent of the archaeology, and the features that have been mapped represent a ‘minimum’ of the archaeology on the site. There are several possible 'pit' features, for instance, which have not been mapped is it was impossible to distinguish these from the geology. The linear ditches are thought to represent field boundaries and /or a possible trackway, and it is possible that the partial ring ditch represents a Bronze Age round barrow or possible prehistoric round house.
