Full Description
Cropmark of possible sub-oval enclosure or moat. Area is almost rectangular with rounded corners but has one convex end. Possible moat.
FTN 011 (building tile and other materials) within the boundaries of the enclosure (S1) (S2).
Shown on Flash Earth and SCC AP on Mapinfo. Flash Earth provides a better quality picture; enclosure borders are more distint, than SCC AP.
April 2014. Lothingland, Lowestoft and North Suffolk Coast and Heaths National Mapping Programme.
Assessment of the aerial photographs for this site revealed no definite evidence for the previously identified enclosure or moat. When viewed in stereo the majority of the cropmarks and soilmarks at this location relate to natural undulations in the topography and possibly also some minor quarrying activity. The linear ditch forming the southern part of this ‘feature’ would appear to be part of the former parish boundary (OUL 026). See OUL 027 for probable medieval to post medieval field boundaries mapped in this area.
