Please read our .

Summary

The cropmarks of a ring ditch are visible on aerial photographs, within an area of fields, enclosures and trackways (COR 014). This ring ditch may represent the remains of a Bronze Age round barrow, part of a cemetery (COR 064) pre-dating the fields, although it is feasible that it relates to a domestic or agricultural enclosure or structure associated with COR 014.

Full Description

July 2014. Lothingland, Lowestoft and North Suffolk Coast and Heaths National Mapping Programme.
The cropmarks of a ring ditch are visible on aerial photographs (S1), within an area of fields, enclosures and trackways (COR 014). This ring ditch may represent the remains of a Bronze Age round barrow, part of a cemetery (COR 064) predating the fields, although it is feasible that it relates to a domestic or agricultural enclosure or structure associated with COR 014. It is possible that the line of the adjacent COR 014 ditch ran along the same line as the ring ditch and that the discrepancy is caused by differential positioning of separate rectification programmes.
