Full Description
Ancient woodland as defined in (S1). For details of history and earthworks see (S1), The Suffolk Wildlife Trust, English Nature, the County Council Countryside section and various other Oliver Rackham works including (R1).
Two earthwork banks are visible on aerial photographs, one of the banks has a shallow ditch associated with it. The banks are located at the south-eastern end of the ancient wood and were visible on the RAF photography because of tree clearence. The location corresponds to the edge of woodland marked on the OS 1st edition mapping. Helen Saunders (Essex County Council), March 2015. (S2-S3).
