Full Description

A World War II barbed wire obstruction is visible encircling a hexagonal pillbox, located at TM35234104, in 1941. It appears to be forming a military strongpoint, although the function of the strongpoint is unclear. (S1) By October 1945 at least half of the barbed wire has been removed (S2) and by 1948 only the pillbox remains. (S3) The pillbox is still visible on photographs taken in 1971. (S4)

Redhouse Farm, Bawdsey. Pillbox type 22. [Plotted from aerial photographs] (S5).
