Type and Period (1)
A World War II anti-tank ditch is visible as an unconsolidated bank and a ditch running through Alderton and Bawdsey parishes from TM362421 to TM357404, in July 1940 on aerial photographs. The anti-tank ditch has been created by modifying the existing drainage ditches and forms part of the extensive anti-invasion defences along this stretch of the Suffolk coast. (S1)
See ADT 055 for the scaffolding, which runs on a similar alignment to the west of the anti-tank ditch.
The ditches are marked on modern base map or OS 1:2500 2nd ed, 1904.
