Full Description

A hexagonal pillbox, c 4.7m across, is visible at the junction of Whapload Road and Hamilton Road in Lowestoft, on 1941 (S1) aerial photographs. The pillbox is still visible on 1944 aerial photographs (S2). Some 20m north-east of the pillbox, a roadblock, consisting of capped holes into which poles were slotted to block the road as necessary, can be seen across Whapload Road. The road block may be visible in the earlier photograph, but the quality and scale makes it very difficult to be sure.
