Full Description

Two World War II air raid shelters can be seen in a small area of open ground south of Cobbold Street. They were constructed at some point before April 1944. They are covered trench shelters, in a zig zag pattern, with possibly an entrance at each end. On the photographs from April 1944 a number of what appear to military vehicles are parked nearby. (S1) (S2)
By 1948 no visible traces of the shelters remain and by 1963 a car park has been constructed on the site.
