Monument record FEX 108 - World War II anti-aircraft ditches.

World War II anti-aircraft ditches are visible from 1944 onwards on Felixstowe Marshes. They consist of shallow ditches with piles of upcast at either side and were meant to prevent aircraft from landing on flat open areas of countryside such as the marshes. Although there is no photography earlier than 1944 available the ditches may have been constructed as early as 1940, as similar ditches further south (FEX 109) are visible on photographs taken in1940. Felixstowe Marshes, Old Felixstowe, Felixstowe. Large complex of trench and mound anti-troop carrying aircraft obstacles dug in low lying marshland to the N, E, and S of Holmhill Farm. Infilled by 1951 (S4).
