Full Description
A World War II Heavy Anti-aircraft Artillery battery constructed sometime between 18 April and 28 May 1944. Photographs from April 1944 show some activity in the area, possibly the construction of the battery in progress, including a number of structures at the other side of the road, to the south of the battery. The exact nature of the buildings cannot be determined but it is possible that the structures may have been tents. The battery itself consisted of four gun emplacements with a central command post and two other structures to the rear, one of which was probably the magazine. (S1) (S2) By October 1945 all that remained of the battery were some patches of what appears to be demolition rubble. (S3)
See FEX 111 for the anti-aircraft ditch that crosses the site.
