Full Description
A military practice trench can be seen as a cropmark in a field of cereal on a photograph from July 1940. It is possible that it dates from World War I or the inter-war years as it appears that it must have been dug in, at the latest, 1939 if not many years earlier. The fact that a stretch of barbed wire obstruction runs over the top of it 1940 may also supports this date. The trench forms a crenellated pattern when viewed from the air. (S1)
It is not visible on any later photographs.
