Full Description
Three possible World War II bomb craters can be seen as depressions at the edge of the River Deben in Hemley parish on photographs taken from the 1940s onwards. Two are located on the salt-marsh at TM 29224212 and TM 29174216 and the other is located in the adjacent field at TM 29084215. (S1) (S2) The bomb crater located in the field appears to have been ploughed out by the end of the 1940s but the other two are still visible in the salt-marsh on aerial photographs taken in 1971.
