Full Description

A probable Post Medieval sand pit, roughly 60m by 50m, centred on TM 28414397, can be seen as an earthwork hollow on aerial photographs taken from the 1940s onwards. (S1) (S2) (S3) The hollow is probably a sand pit and this interpretation is supported by another 'crag pit' marked to the north of the hollow on the Ordnance Survey 1st Edition 25" map, although the hollow itself is not marked on the Ordnance Survey 1st or 2nd Edition 25" map, suggesting that it may be Post Medieval in date.
