Monument record TYN 080 - A row of small rectangular pits of unknown date and function in the inter-tidal zone of the River Orwell, Trimley St Martin parish

A row of twelve rectangular pits of unknown date and function is visible as earthworks in the inter-tidal zone of the River Orwell, centred on TM 25423577, on aerial photographs taken in 1946 and 1948. The pits are all no bigger than about 4m by 2m and are arranged in a row, north to south, following the edge of the river channel. See TYN 081 for similar pits to the north of this site. (S1) (S2)
