Full Description

Post Medieval field boundaries are visible as cropmarks of ditches on aerial photographs, centred on TM 21873632 in fields to the west of Peartree Farm, Shotley. Two of the field boundaries run parallel to each other on a north-west south-east alignment and another shorter boundary runs at right angles to these boundaries, to the south at TM 22383620. (S1) The boundaries appear to fit into the field pattern as depicted on the 1st Edition 25" Ordnance Survey map of circa 1884, suggesting that they are of Post Medieval date. (S2)
See SLY 006 for the Later Prehistoric or Roman field system and SLY 145 for the undated trackway.
