Full Description
A World War II pillbox is visible as a structure on aerial photographs from 1943 onwards, located atop the sea wall to the south of Orford Quay, centred on circa TM42324918 (S1). The pillbox formed part of the extensive anti-invasion defenses in place along the Suffolk coast at this time and would have worked with the barbed wire to the west and the strongpoint to the north east to protect Orford Quay from potential invasion (see ORF 092, 093).
