Full Description
A ring ditch is visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs of 1974, located about 110m to the north of Boyton Hall farm, Boyton parish, centred on circa TM38244651. The ditch encloses an area circa 5m diameter and is on average about 1m wide. This is smaller than most known archaeological ring ditches, and as there is only one available aerial photographs showing this image, the possibility that it is not archaeological in origin cannot be ignored. However, there are several small ring ditches visible in this area, and the precise nature of these features will not be discovered without more targeted photography or archaeological excavation. If it is an archaeological feature, it may be associated with the possible late prehistoric enclosure to the west (see BOY 061). (S1)
