Full Description
A group of three wrecked vessels of unknown date are visible on aerial photographs, centred on TM 16424185 in the River Orwell, to the south-east of Bourne Bridge. The most southerly of the three wrecks is located at TM 16424183. The vessel measures around 11m in length and appears to be in the process of being covered by river silts. The second wreck is located to the north at TM 16414185. This vessel measures 19m in length and is in a much better state of repair. The third vessel is located at TM 16414186 and is rectangular in shape, measuring at least 9m in length. It is possible that this is not a boat at all. (S1) (S2) These are the only wrecks in the area that can be confirmed as definitely being there before 1945 with the photography available. (S3)
