Full Description
A probable causeway of Post Medieval date is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of 1943 centred on circa TM41105081, about 280m to the south of Sudbourne Hall, Orford parish (S1). The causeway is orientated roughly north west to south east, and is about 215m long, interrupted by a footbridge across a drainage channel roughly halfway along its length. It is possible that the causeway provided access to Sudbourne Hall. It is unclear from the aerial photos whether the drain cuts the causeway or the causeway post-dates the drain, but it is probable that they both post-date the reclamation of the salt marsh and are probably Post Medieval in date.
