Full Description
Two sides of a rectangular ditched enclosure of unknown date are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs of 1946, centred roughly on circa TM39235241, about 200m west of Hill Farm, Chillesford parish (S1). The cropmark is about 4m wide and in total about 180m long, and appears to be showing the east and southern sides of a rectangular enclosure that is orientated roughly NNW-SSE. On this basis, the enclosure is at least It is on a different orientation to the surrounding Post-Medieval field system, and appears to be truncated on its northern side by a road or trackway. It is not possible to date the enclosure from the photographs alone, but the form of the feature, if complete, might suggest a late prehistoric or Roman date.
