Full Description

A small bank of possible Medieval or Post Medieval date and unknown function is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs, located on the saltmarsh in Erwarton Bay at TM 21833372. The bank is around 28m in length and 5m wide. It is located close to the existing sea bank (ARW 045), on the seaward side and on the same alignment. (S1) (S2) (S3) The position and alignment of the bank in relation to the sea bank suggests that the earthwork may be later than the sea bank suggesting a Medieval or Post Medieval date. (S4)
