Full Description
A ring ditch of unknown date and function is visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs, centred on TM 20293511 to the east of Rag Queach wood in Harkstead parish. The ring ditch encloses an area of 12.5m in diameter and does not appear to be directly related to any of the other cropmark features in the vicinity (see HRK 001 and HRK 005 for further details). The size of the ring ditch suggests that it could be the remains of a round barrow of Prehistoric origins, the site of a hut of Prehistoric date or a stack stand dating to a number of periods. Its close proximity to what appear to be Prehistoric or Roman field system or settlement cropmarks may suggest that a Prehistoric or Roman date for the feature is most likely. (S1) (S2) (S3)
