Full Description

A World War Two barrier across the mouth of the River Blyth can be seen on aerial photographs of 1941, suspended between South Pier and North pier, centred on circa TM 505 747 (S1). The barrier, probably a boom composed of chain or heavy rope, was probably lowered to allow the passage of vessels.
