Full Description

A ring ditch is visible on aerial photographs as a cropmark circa 600 metres to the south-west of Kembroke Hall, centred on circa TM26144082 in Bucklesham parish. The ditch is relatively narrow at circa 1-1.5 metres wide, with a diameter of circa 15-18 metres. The relatively small proportions of this site do not support an interpretation as a barrow of Bronze Age date and the location of the ring ditch within the area of BUC 008 make a domestic function, as the drip gulley of an Iron Age round house more probable (S1-S2). In photographs of 1996 and later this ring ditch is obscured by a tree lined field boundary (S3).
