Full Description
A temporary military tented camp is visible on aerial photographs of May and July 1944, centred on circa TM25874050, in Bucklesham parish (S1, S2). The camp is composed of Bell, Marquee and Ridge type tents and a number of vehicles, probably lorries, are parked around the perimeter of the camp. The precise function of the camp is unclear from the photographs alone, but the date of the photographs would support an interpretation as a transit camp, probably for troops en route to Felixstowe and embarkation to mainland Europe following the D-Day landings.
