Full Description

The remains of a possible round barrow of Bronze Age date can be seen as the cropmark of a ring ditch on aerial photographs, centred on circa TM29783666 to the north of Hill House Cottages, Felixstowe parish. The ring ditch is circa 2 metres wide and 20 metres in diameter. The cropmark bears greater resemblance to two smaller ring ditches to the south-west (see FEX 257-258) than the probable round house cropmarks to the east (FEX 097-098) and may be the remains of a more substantial earthwork, such as a ditch enclosing a round barrow. This feature is partly obscured by Guplher Business Park and any relationship with the trackway recorded in FEX 057 remains unknown, but other possibly Iron Age trackways in the area can be seen to be aligned on the probable remains of Bronze Age round barrows (see FLK 002).
