Full Description
Approximately 1200 metres of anti-tank ditch of world war two date is visible as an earthwork on contemporary aerial photographs, from circa TM29203719 to the north of Egypt Wood in Trimley St Martin parish, to circa TM28403624 across the parish boundary to the south in Trimley St Mary parish. The ditch to the south of Egypt Wood has been filled in by July 1946. This ditch was part of a wider system of defence obstructions intended to prevent enemy access to the port of Felixstowe in the case of an invasion. Further lengths of ditch can be seen to the south.
