Full Description
At least 19 Second World War trench air-raid shelters can be seen as earthworks constructed in the grounds of Orwell High School, Felixstowe, on aerial photographs of the 1940s. Six semi-sunken shelters, consisting of a covered trench circa 9 metres long with an entrance at either end, can be seen to the north of the school, thirteen to the south. Disturbed ground to the south of these may mark the location of less substantial shelters. The location of the trenches to the north has now largely been developed but traces of those to the south may survive as sub-surface features. (S1-S4).
