Full Description

A circular earthwork military feature, probably a light anti-aircraft machine gun emplacement, can be seen on aerial photographs in Martlesham village, centred on circa TM248461. It is a circular earthwork bank with a possible entrance to the south-east, presumably surrounding the gun holdfast. It was undoubtedly part of the defences of Martlesham airfield. A similar though larger example can be seen roughly 500 metres to the north-west. (S1)
