Full Description

A ring ditch, possibly the remains of a round barrow, is visible on aerial photographs as a cropmark on the former area of Martlesham Heath, centred on circa TM245454, Martlesham parish. Although somewhat indistinct, it is possible to see that the ring ditch is approximately 55 metres in diameter. The ditch may be variable in width but encloses an area up to 44 metres wide. This ring ditch may be the remains of a Bronze Age round barrow, possibly forming a group with MRM 017 circa 220 metres to the north-east, and a smaller ring, MRM 120, circa 65 metres ditch to the south, or the remains of a circular ditched enclosure. This feature is located on the former Martlesham Heath airfield and has now been built over.
